Fans of American Pickers don’t just watch the show. Sometimes, they take a direct role in supporting host Mike Wolfe’s business as consumers themselves. However, some fans have recently voiced complaints about recent merchandise. This notably comes out as another issue impacts the show.

Mike Wolfe’s Antique Archaeology Is Based In Iowa & Tennessee
Wolfe is known to many as the host of American Pickers. On the show, he and a co-host travel the United States, inspecting antiques in the search of treasures.

However, Wolfe is also known for his business, Antique Archaeology, which has locations in LeClaire, Iowa, and Nashville. However, consumers have recently criticized the store on social media.

According to The U.S. Sun, fans have criticized the prices as well as the low inventory. One Google, one fan’s review claimed, “Huge disappointment. Made a special trip to go there. Total waste of time. Very few items for sale and what were there was overpriced. Don’t waste your time…”

A second fan voiced the complaint, “Waste of time, we love the show and were excited to get to go but it was a total waste of time! They have shot glasses, t-shirts, and can coozies and shop towels with their name on it but not much else.”

As the fan continued, “Very few antiques and the ones they have are super expensive! $1,500 for a small quaker sign.”

A third voiced that, “The Antique Archaeology store left me unimpressed. A lot of mass-produced souvenir items for sale with a few antiques on display.”

A fourth had also claimed, “Would have been very disappointed if I came up just for this. Was expecting an antique store, not an American Pickers gift shop.”

The Prices Are Going Up As Something Else Is Going Down On American Pickers
According to the publication, Antique Archeology and Two Lanes T-shirts were seen going for a retail price of $25 to $37. Antique Archeology bowls could also cost around $16.99. One pile of shirts also notably advertised they were only available in 2X and 3X sizes.

That said, some of the antiques had the opposite problem, as they were marked by a “Not For Sale” sign. As a general rule, however, antiques tend to be expensive.

An antique coin horse ride, for example, was said to be worth around $3,500. Even an antique dollhouse could be worth close to $200.

This notably comes out as American Pickers has been struggling in the ratings, according to the publication. The highest rated episode this past season, which aired back in December, reached an audience of 760,000.

Viewers reached the millions, however, during the late Frank Fritz’s time on the show. Tragically, Fritz passed away on September 30, 2024.

That said, the publication noted the series has three more seasons left due to its contract. According to an inside source, “They’re filming for Season 26, and they have signed on for three more years.” The series resumed filming back in February 2025.
