‘American Pickers’ Why Is Frank Fritz’s Memorial Delayed 5 Months After Death?
A memorial meant to honor the late Frank Fritz of American Pickers fame has been delayed for a few months. The news is connected to recent reports of conflicts involving the late star’s friends and family. A source has also recently revealed what had been planned for the memorial.
Frank Fritz Passed Away On September 30, 2024, At The Age Of 60
Frank Fritz appeared alongside Mike Wolfe on American Pickers from 2010 to 2020. On the show, the two traveled across the country to find antiques in the hopes of finding rare treasures.
Around 2020, it was believed Fritz was undergoing back surgery. However, he was officially let go from American Pickers by 2021.
Tragically, Fritz died on September 30, 2024. This had been around two years after he had suffered a stroke. The American Pickers star was 60 years old at the time of his death.
As previously reported, Fritz’s family and friends have been fighting over the TV personality’s estate. At the time, it was claimed that Bill Fritz, Frank’s father, was challenging the will, saying that his son’s decision-making abilities were impaired at the time the will was written. Fritz’s friends disagreed, saying that it honored his wishes, also questioning Bill’s relationship with his son.
According to The U.S. Sun, the fight over the will has also impacted a memorial planned for the late star. The publication claimed that Fritz’ memorial of life was scheduled for the spring. However, in light of the court battles, it will be postponed for around five months.
According to the publication, a source claimed, “His close motorcycle family planned a motorcycle run that includes riding Frank’s ashes to Savanna, Illinois where his longtime friend Jerry runs his antique store. They planned to have live music, possibly blocking off streets.”
“That is all for now, but they do have plans for more. His friends were in the process of planning the memorial when his dad challenged the will.”
Some Details Of The Planned ‘Celebration Of Life’ Were Shared By Fritz’s Friends
The source added that Fritz was the one who wanted a “grand celebration with his friends.” It was claimed they knew “all of his wishes for a celebration of life.” The source also added, “His father did not know what his son wanted.”
This celebration of life had been in development since September. Around that time, Fritz’s friend Jerry Gendreau shared, “My understanding at this point, and this was his will, he wanted to come on the back of a motorcycle or a sidecar with his ashes in an urn with a big ride and go back to the Quad Cities.”
Gendreau continued, “We’ll do anything we can for him. That’s what he really wanted to do.”
Prior to his death, as previously reported, Fritz was placed within a guardianship. His guardian, Chris Davis, also revealed some plans: “There will be a celebration of life in the future. It will be big. Fans can attend. We already have several bands who want to play in it, including my band.”
